“Born”
2016Advertisement (PDF)
Many facts might imply that in our modern times, the critique with an unfavorable view is the viewpoint common to maybe any art. John Cage’s scores which do not even have any five-line staff, Marcel Duchamp’s ready-mades consisting of unaltered found objects, the film “Un Chien Andalou” by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali in which images are just succeeding one after another. They criticized the common sense established in their own fields and by destroying such common sense, they all certainly brought about new and various ways of expression to the world of art. The problem is that, reversely, when this kind of action has become a common thing to do today, I think people are keeping reiterating meaningless destructions when there is nowhere to head to anymore. Destroy to destroy, we could say this is the result of an “art only for art” that went too far.
Am I the only one who wants to listen to the voice of our soul one more time, to hear a newly born message calling forth emotions that come out directly from the depths of the heart? I hope to see something with a story that builds the future and not with some ad hoc concept, to witness the birth of a new value and possibilities and not criticism.
